Early in my adult life, I felt a strong draw to fulfil the duties of the fourth estate. Graduating university with such designs in the mid 2000s was an exercise in gumption and – to an extent – futility. The wall in my home office is decorated with numerous “Final Edition” papers from this time, when the free-flowing information of the Internet decimated the traditional newspaper business model.
Chasing stories was still the best time I’ve had working for other humans.
