Early in my adult life, I felt a strong draw to fulfil the duties of the fourth estate. Graduating university with such designs in the mid 2000s was an exercise in gumption and – to an extent – futility. The wall in my home office is decorated with numerous “Final Edition” papers from this time, when the
free-flowing information of the Internet decimated the traditional newspaper business model.
Chasing stories was still the best time I’ve had working for other humans.
After the financial collapse of 2008 and a few years working in a role that was closer to marketing than actual journalism – and then getting laid off curiously close to earning my Master’s and seeking tuition reimbursement – I saw a need to build something of my own. So I spent a few years building a multimillion dollar e-commerce company.
Bootstrapped a holistic supplement e-commerce business from the ground up with a focus on exceptionally high-quality products, best-in-class customer service and operations so efficient, it only took a week to sign a buyer for the company after a bidding war over the listing.
My real estate portfolio includes equity in more than 5,850 multifamily units and more than 1,200 single-family units as well as a growing portfolio in my direct control. I love to hear about value-add opportunities.
